Why concrete overlays?
Concrete is the most widely-used traffic surface in the
world. For centuries, plain gray concrete was accepted as a finished exterior
surface, and interior concrete was covered with tile, linoleum, wood, carpet,
and paint.
Concrete overlays have existed for many decades, but
the past two decades in particular have led to advancements in polymer emulsion
composition and blends that create permanent coatings when mixed with the
correct ratios of white cement, various silica quartz aggregates, and other
components. These coatings are generally installed from 1/16" to 3/8" thick,
with even greater thicknesses achieved for some applications. Read about our
different finishes and observe photos of each type....

Thin-Stamped Overlays:
(the
primary product used is TEXTURE-PAVE™)Thin-stamped
overlays are one of the most popular uses of our polymer cement products. Until
now, to obtain the look and feel of stone, slate, and various tiles in a
concrete surface, you needed to pour a new concrete slab and then stamp the
freshly-poured concrete with embossing tools. Although this may be the ideal
application for new concrete, thin-stamped overlays are the answer for existing
concrete surfaces. Imagine being able to apply a 1/4" to 3/8" layer of polymer
cement over an existing concrete surface, then stamping the thin-layered polymer
cement material to give a permanent and realistic look of stone, slate, and
tile. With decreased costs, but increased versatility, Hallmark Concrete's
thin-stamped overlays give you more for your concrete floor.

Splatter Textures & Knock-Down
Finishes:
(the primary product used is THIN-FINISH™)
Splatter textures and knock-down finishes have traditional
decorative resurfacing designs and textures. Splatter textures and knock-down
finishes are typically applied with an air-powered hopper gun and are commonly
used for pool decks, driveways, patios, etc. These applications give your
property added beauty, slip-resistance, and durability. Splatter textures and
knock-down finishes are slightly less authentic-looking than thin-stamped
overlays, but have more texture to provide better non-slip surfaces.

Custom Interior Flooring:
(the primary products used are MICRO-FINISH™ or TEXTURE-PAVE™)
Custom interior flooring applications include extremely
smooth or moderately-textured finishes in virtually limitless color and design
combinations. Commercial-grade sealer systems may be required to ensure
high-traffic wearability. Custom interior flooring applications are widely used
in casinos, shopping malls, offices, hotel lobbies, retail stores, residential
floors, and anywhere in place of conventional tile, terrazzo, quarry, etc.

Trowel-Down Slate Finishes:
(the primary product used is THIN-FINISH™)
Trowel-down slate finishes are alternatives to thin-stamped overlays, but lack
the authenticity and overall depth. However, trowel-down slate finishes create a
textured, decorative finish that rivals the look of conventional slate at a
fraction of the cost.

Concrete Repair Resurfacing:
(the primary products used are THIN-FINISH™ or TEXTURE-PAVE™)
Concrete repair resurfacing is used to repair, restore, and
resurface pitted, flaked, deteriorated, or poorly-finished concrete that you
would otherwise need to remove and replace. Normal applications are applied
1/32" to 1/4" thick, with thicker applications being applied if needed. Finished
applications look as if new concrete were poured, yet offer increased levels of
performance. Concrete repair resurfacing is resistant to chemicals, salt,
petrochemicals, UV, water, and more. Because of the inexpensive cost of this
application, it is becoming the standard for surface repair.
